DREAM personnel attend 3Di Flood modeling event of Project NOAH

Last 25 November 2015, DREAM representatives from the Flood Modelling Component led by Chief Science Research Specialist Christopher Uichanco participated in the event entitled 3Di "State of the Art" Flood Modelling in the Philippines - Fast, Accurate and Visual, organized by the Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards (Project NOAH) - Disaster Risk Exposure and Assessment for Mitigation in collaboration with Delft University of Technology and Nelen and Schuurmans, Netherlands.

The event was opened by DOST Secretary Mario Montejo followed by the lecture of Director Fons Nelen of Nelen and Schuurmans, who discussed how to implement 3Di technology. Dr. Mahar Lagmay, Executive Director of Project NOAH then gave a lecture on the importance of predicting floods and droughts. During the afternoon, Emeritus Professor Stelling of Delft University of Technology and National University of Singapore delivered a presentation entitled "3Di under the Hood," while doctoral student Arnold van't Veld Bsc. from the Delft University of Technology and the University of Singapore as well explained his dissertation focusing on a fisheries pilot project in the Pampanga River Delta, showing how 3Di works in the Philippines.
