DREAM takes part in Yolanda Anniversary Exhibit of OPARR

To highlight the importance of disaster preparation and risk mitigation, the DREAM Program, together with Smarter Visayas, took part in the exhibit entitled "Multi-Stakeholders Policy Forum: "One Year After Yolanda and the Way Forward." The event was hosted by the Office of the Presidential Assistant on Rehabilitation and Recovery (OPARR)and held on November 11, 2014 in the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

The event featured disaster risk preparedness and management techniques and a display of means on how to better prepare the public for disasters such as supertyphoons. It also included discussions on post-disaster response and recovery as well as crafting of policies to help communities protect themselves against the damages brought by major disasters, like Supertyphoon Yolanda, which is historically considered the strongest typhoon in the world to make landfall. Typhoon Yolanda heavily damaged the Eastern coast of Leyte in the Philippines, having a storm surge that is 7-10 meters in height.
