2015 PHIL-LiDAR 1 Cluster Conferences Conclude Successfully in Iloilo

The PHIL-LiDAR 1 has successfully ended this year's series of Cluster Conferences for Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Partner State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) contributed in making the colloquium significant.

The last convention was the Phil-LiDAR 1 Visayas Cluster Conference held in Richmonde Hotel in Iloilo on September 13-15, 2015. Delegates came from University of the Philippines Cebu, University of San Carlos, and Visayas State University, and the project and component heads from UP DREAM/PHIL-LiDAR 1 Program. Most of the participants arrived on September 13 to better prepare for the conference proper on September 14.

Program Leader, Dr.  Enrico Paringit’s opening remarks commenced the conference at 9:00 a.m. Presentation of progress, accomplishments, and concerns was alloted for each of the different Visayas Cluster universities in the morning.  After the lunch break, Project Leaders/ Chief Science Research Specialist of the Data Acquisition Component (DAC), Data Validation Component (DVC), Data Processing Component (DPC), Flood Modeling Component (FMC), and Data Archiving and Distribution (DAD) Component responded to the reports by recognizing their progress, committing assistance, and answering their issues for the completion of the targets.  Dr. Paringit also shared instructions, guidance, and insights.

Ms. Claire Reyes of the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD), the monitoring agency of the DREAM/PHIL-LiDAR 1 Program, facilitated the last agenda which was to finalize the contents of the DOST Form 2B – 1 Workplan. This has previously  undergone workshop with the SUC/ HEI delegates of the Luzon and Mindanao Cluster. The ouput of these workshops is to formulate a unified and standard workplan measuring and stating the step-by-step progress of each project for PCIEERD's documentation and supervision. This will be the benchmark to be used by Phil-LiDAR 1 SUCs/HEIs and PCIEERD in objectively and jointly evaluate the status of completion of their goals.
