DREAM gives aid to Yolanda victims

In light of the recent devastation brought about by Super Typhoon Yolanda, the Disaster Risk and Exposure Assessment for Mitigation (DREAM) Program has worked together with Project Lightline of the National Institute of Physics to donate portable cellphone chargers with batteries to the disaster-stricken province of Leyte. With these chargers, Yolanda victims will be able to use their phones to communicate with their relatives in Manila or elsewhere, despite the absence of electricity in most parts of typhoon-hit Leyte.

Project Lightline assembled five (5) portable chargers, while DREAM donated around 70 double AA batteries to be used with the chargers. These were brought to the Philippine Science High School in Palo, Leyte who is hosting about 3,000 evacuees.
Meanwhile, the rest of the cash donations were used to buy more than 150 bottles of tetanus vaccine for Yolanda victims. These items were delivered to Tacloban, Leyte a few days after the typhoon struck.
