National LiDAR Project's Challenges, Triumphs, and Opportunities

Dr Martin Isenburg gave a talk in the NSTW Emerging Technologies Forum sponsored by PCIEERD last July 24, 2014. He laid down the basics of LiDAR and gave a short overview of the DREAM LiDAR Program in the Philippines.

He also talked about the LiDAR project experience in Finland, Holland, Denmark and the US, among others.

Dr Isenburg is a strong believer of the UP DREAM Program. In the talk, he advised the Philippines to continue to DREAM and open its LiDAR data, especially to make its “raw” point cloud accessible to everyone and allow its free commercial use. With that, he envisions innovation and entrepreneurship to kick-start a new geospatial industry.
