DOST, DENR launch YoRInfoCenter

Disaster Risk and Exposure Assessment for Mitigation (DREAM) contributes its LiDAR data products and flood hazard maps to the Yolanda Rehabilitation Scientific Information Center (YoRInfoCenter) launched by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Department of the Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) last May 17 at the National Engineering Center, University of the Philippines-Diiman.

The said center, which is dubbed as a one-stop information shop, will handle the distribution of science-based data to government agencies and humanitarian organizations involved in the rehabilitation of Yolanda-damaged areas. Among the scientific data to be released are LiDAR topographic maps, multi-hazard maps, and satellite images.

YoRInfoCenter, housed in the UP Diliman National Engineering Center, is also staffed by experts from DOST Project Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards (NOAH), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), and the DENR Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB).
