DREAM Head bags 2015 MWF Engineering Excellence Prize

Enrico C. Paringit, Dr.Eng., the Program Leader of the Disaster Risk and Exposure Assessment for Mitigation (DREAM) Program was awarded with Manila Water Foundation (MWF) Prize for Engineering Excellence last 25 November 2015.

Dr. Paringit was one of the five scientist-engineers to be granted the first Engineering Excellence prize by the MWF. He has been heading the DREAM/PHIL-LiDAR 1 Hazard Mapping of the Philippines Using LiDAR since its start of the program in 2012. LiDAR or Light Detection and Ranging technology is a state-of-the-art, cutting edge technology utilized by the program to produce high-resolution and updated flood hazard maps and models. He has been actively involved in the science and technology community and has led different disaster-related projects.

“The Manila Water Foundation Prize for Engineering Excellence is a nationwide search for engineers who manifest excellent engineering competence, inspiring passion to make a difference, and outstanding commitment to the development of communities resulting in projects that champion water, sanitation, environment, and sustainability,” as cited from the foundation’s website.

This year’s awarding ceremony was held at Hotel Intercontinental Makati. MWF will be holding the next awards in the year 2017.
