Phil-LiDAR Partner SUCs/HEIs participate in Mindanao Cluster Conference

The Mindanao Cluster Conference for Phil-LiDAR 1 was held last September 11, 2015 at the Green Leaf Hotel, General Santos City. It was attended by Phil-LiDAR 1 offices of partner SUCs/HEIs located in Mindanao. A total of 41 participants attended the event, from UP Diliman, CARAGA State University, MSU-IIT, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Central Mindanao University, and UP Mindanao.

DREAM Program holds Luzon Cluster Conference in Subic

The Phil-LiDAR 1 Luzon Cluster Conference was held in Kamana Sanctuary Hotel in Subic on September 3-5, 2015, with the event proper taking place on September 4, 2015. The Phil-LiDAR delegates came from Isabela State University (ISU), Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Ateneo de Naga University (ADNU), University of the Philippines, Baguio (UPB), University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), and Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT).

Inquirer News: DREAM Flood Maps can help lessen El Nino's Impact

In an article in the Science/ Health portion of the Philippine Daily Inquirer (p.A23) last August 29, 2015, Dr. Enrico C. Paringit, Program Leader of the UP Disaster Risk and Exposure Assessment for Mitigation (DREAM) Program, stated that flood maps can be harnessed to find places where people can store water for the dry season.

DREAM Program Participates in Eng'g Quake Drill

Around 130 personnel of the UP Nationwide Disaster Risk Exposure and Assessment for Mitigation (DREAM) PHIL-LiDAR Program evacuated their offices at the National Engineering Complex (NEC) as part of Eng'g Quake, a simultaneous earthquake drill coordinated by the University of the Philippines, College of Engineering on August 11, 2015.

The UP Disaster Risk Exposure and Assessment for Mitigation (DREAM) Program showcased its Flood Hazard Advisory interactive exhibit and state-of-the-art Urban Flooding Alert System (UFAS) during the 2015 DOST Science Nation Exhibit for the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) held on July 24-28, 2015 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, in Pasay City.

PHIL-LiDAR Programs hold CASI Training

The Disaster Risk and Exposure Assessment for Mitigation (DREAM) PHIL-LiDAR 1 Program conducted its first Airborne Hyperspectral Imaging Training (using Compact Airborne Spectographic Imager, CASI) to 20 members of PHIL-LiDAR 1 & 2 Programs last June 22-26, 2015 at the Computational Science Research Center, University of the Philippines Diliman.

DREAM Personnel participate in Mid-Year Assessment Training

Last June 18-19, 2015, the DREAM Program's personnel underwent a Mid-Year Assessment Training to further improve its workflow and processes, with the aim to increase productivity and efficiency. With the interaction among DREAM Personnel and sharing of perspectives of the vision looking forward to 2016, the DREAMers were able to concretize some ideas on how to manage the tasks and deliverables towards the end of the program.
